While 5G is on track for network rollout by 2020, leading global and Australian Telcos have announced their intentions to launch 5G fixed wireless services from late 2018 onwards.

In Australia, 5G remains a key agenda item for the Government, the NBN and the Telco Market.

The fifth generation of mobile technologies, 5G, is fast approaching, with a targeted global deployment expected in 2020.  Industry leaders are pushing hard to be first to market, with some already announcing plans for early deployment in 2019, or even late 2018. However, consumers should be wary of the optimistic announcements and results of reported trials, as the marketing hype surrounding new network technologies can lead to a flood of premature and misleading indicators of progress.
