The merger of NZME and Fairfax Media has been rejected by the New Zealand Commerce Commission.

We believe that, although the scale of the merged company could hamper competition within New Zealand, NZCC’s decision is short sighted on an international scale and as a result will significantly damage the print media market in New Zealand.
