In this monthly round up we analyse some of the key events and trends that helped to shape the telecommunication market in Australia and New Zealand and assess their impact upon customers and the competitive landscape:
- COVID-19 impacting the industry again. The renewal of lockdown is forcing NBN to respond with more discount, but a more comprehensive solution is needed
- Social responsibility high on the agenda. CSR/ESR is becoming more important to telco brand management and recruitment, and telcos are in a strong position to lead.
- Regional focus continues. Ongoing public investment in regional infrastructure is improving connectivity, but we are also seeing more private investment, including data centre investment as regional takeup of cloud services grows.
