The NBN has made significant progress on improving speed uptake on its network in the past six months driven by the pricing changes announced in November 2017.
However, customer complaints that continue to rise as the rollout progresses and an increasing threat from fixed wireless substitutes continue to weigh on the future of the NBN.
The NBN rollout has continued to make significant progress in the past two years with more than 7.5mn Australian premises (as off 19th April, 2018) now in NBN ready for service areas. In addition, the NBN has continued to build momentum as key financial and operational objectives have been achieved along with improved relationships with industry partners and RSPs. However, increasing customer complaints, issues around HFC network, the threat of fixed wireless substitutes and a rising scrutiny of the NBN business model continue to weigh on the NBN. This report analyses the recent progress made by the NBN on revenues, speeds and pricing and also highlights the challenges for the NBN.
