Abstract: We forecast positive growth for Australia’s consumer telecommunications market revenue. In FY24, we estimate that fixed voice and broadband constituted 35% of total consumer telecommunications revenue in Australia. We forecast this share will remain stable over the FY24/29 forecast period, as regulated price increases flow through the consumer broadband market and commercially driven price increases flow through the mobile sector. The total consumer fixed market (voice and broadband) will grow at 3.4% CAGR over FY24/29 to reach $10,050m.
Consumer fixed voice continues its structural decline, as voice customers migrate their calling to VoIP and mobile. We expect consumer voice-only revenue to fall from 1% of the market in FY24 to close to zero in FY29. Consumer fixed voice-only service revenue will decline at a CAGR of 22.3% over FY24/29 to reach a mere $35m.
In contrast, consumer fixed broadband revenues are expected to grow across our forecast horizon at 3.6% CAGR over FY24/29, to reach $10,015m.
