TLDR version: The US based Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently increased the minimum speed it considers to be ‘broadband’ when evaluating fixed service availability in the USA. In this note we discuss the relevance of this decision to Australia’s rural broadband ambitions and how it may also impact the language used to promote broadband services in Australia.
